From the people who do Bangkok’s beloved Sonic and Cosmic Café, Moose is the latest stronghold of the local hipster scene.The tastefully ramshackle space is tucked away at the end of Soi Ekamai, not far from another local favorite, Tuba, The decor is a mix of industrial touches, lots of wooden furniture and lovely hanging plants.

While not officially open until May 25, Opposite Mess Hall (OMH) is one of the most talked-about and anticipated new venues in a long while, thanks to the cred lent by its previous iteration, Opposite, and the people behind it.

Sonic is owned by the same people who do Moose and live music hot spot Cosmic Café. With a giant white statue of a mustachioed hipster out front, Sonic positions itself as a dancing venue. They’ve already hosted a number of local party series, such as the well attended Paradise Bangkok gigs and collectives like Trasher and Dudesweet.

This is both Bangkok’s most celebrated bar and its most copied. The narrow, decrepit Dickensian factory-themed shophouse popped up on Thonglor at a time when Victorian boudoir was still all the rage, triggering a tidal wave of steel beams and exposed brick that is still going strong, as recent copycat openings such as Apoteka attest.

The Dubliner brings an Irish pub presence to the Sukhumvit area. It has an authentic feel with a weathered wood furnish covering the three floors, all tinged with Gaelic bric-a-brac, making this alehouse “Pure Irish”. There’s belting live music on Friday with Lee shamrock, all the sports show on two big screen show major sports events to a raucous house. Shoot some pool on the third floor, and don’t miss out on their enticing menu that easily out classes traditional pub grub. A cracking night out!
